Revenant: In Memory Of The Day Dev Reveals Key Inspirations Behind the Game
Vladislav Nikolaev
At gamescom asia, VGTimes had the opportunity to interview Shin Min Cheol of SHINYERAK, the studio behind the indie horror title Revenant: In Memory Of The Day. The developer shared insights into the team's inspirations for the project.
According to Shin Min Cheol, the cancelled horror game P.T., the brainchild of director Guillermo del Toro and game designer Hideo Kojima, served as a primary source of inspiration. The developers also drew inspiration from the walking simulator The Exit 8.
Mainly P.T. by Hideo Kojima. We were also inspired by Exit 8, which essentially established this subgenre. We took its structure and modified it, adding our own directorial and atmospheric touches.
Shin Min Cheol also revealed that the game was developed by a small team of three.
We developed the game using Unreal Engine. There were three of us during production, each handling a different aspect of development. Now there are two of us in the studio, but we plan to expand in the future.
In Revenant: In Memory Of The Day, players must escape an endless corridor by carefully observing their surroundings and searching for clues. The game was released on March 19, 2025.
