Blue Ridge Hunting Brings Appalachian Folklore Horror to Steam — a Phasmophobia-Style Co-op About Hunting Mythical Creatures
Artis Kenderik
Blue Ridge Hunting is coming soon to Steam — a co-op horror game that blends the mechanics of Phasmophobia with the eerie atmosphere of the Appalachian Mountains. Instead of ghosts, players will track down mythical creatures such as the legendary Mothman and other beings from local folklore.
The game began as a personal project by developer Jade Meadows, who later founded the indie studio Jade & Company. The team has now launched a Kickstarter campaign aiming to raise $15,000 by November 30. The publisher, Six One Publishing, is known for supporting independent titles.
Alongside the crowdfunding launch, a free demo has been released on Steam and will be updated regularly. Blue Ridge Hunting supports co-op for two to three players, as well as a solo mode. In addition to a story-driven campaign, players will get a free hunting mode with open exploration.
The visual style draws inspiration from the PlayStation 1 era, featuring grainy textures and VHS-style visuals. The developers have also added proximity chat, allowing monsters to react to players’ voices — intensifying the immersion.
Blue Ridge Hunting is planned for an early access release in 2026, available exclusively on PC. The game will be Steam Deck Verified, and the demo version is already free to try on Steam.
