Avengers: Doomsday Directors Hint at a Connection Between Iron Man and Doctor Doom — and a Shocking Secret Wars Twist

Joe and Anthony Russo, the directing duo behind Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, appear to be stoking excitement for their next MCU project, Avengers: Doomsday. Judging by their latest teasers, fans may be in for more than just another crossover — it could mark a direct collision between the past and future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In a new video from their studio, AGBO Films, two staff members stand back-to-back — one wearing an Iron Man mask, the other a Doctor Doom mask. The camera slowly circles them, hinting at a mirrored connection between the two figures. Fans immediately speculated that the clip teases a fateful link between Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark and the MCU’s upcoming version of Doom.

The video also features glimpses of the costumes of Sue Storm, Doctor Doom, and Reed Richards — the trio that played a central role in the ending of Fantastic Four: First Steps. In the comics, Doom famously saves a collapsing multiverse by creating a patchwork world called Battleworld, where he rules as a god and takes Sue as his wife, becoming the stepfather to her children.

Fans are convinced that the Russos are teasing a dark, almost tragic storyline where Doom becomes the new center of the MCU — and Iron Man could return in a shocking new form.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027. Judging by these hints, Marvel might be preparing not just another sequel to Endgame, but its most ambitious and daring project since Infinity War.
