94 Out of 100: ARC Raiders Earns Stellar Reviews — Critics Call It the New Benchmark for Extraction Shooters

The new shooter ARC Raiders from Embark Studios has become one of the biggest releases of the year. It holds an impressive 94/100 on OpenCritic and 87/100 on Metacritic, with most reviewers calling it a “new standard” for the extraction shooter genre.
Every raid feels like a desperate fight for survival, with unrelenting tension and atmosphere from start to finish.
ARC Raiders sets an incredibly high bar — with meticulously crafted maps, smart AI, and visuals that will inspire a new wave of imitators.
Push Square praised the game as one of the best co-op experiences of the generation:
Each session tells its own story, and the gameplay respects the player’s time — the fun begins from the very first minute.
Not all critics were completely satisfied, however. Try Hard Guides (6/10) noted that the game “suffers from intrusive monetization” and “doesn’t bring anything truly new to the table.” Meanwhile, TryAGame! (8/10) warned that “solo play is punishing, and the maps could use more variety.”
Still, the majority agree that ARC Raiders marks a major leap forward for Embark Studios and stands as one of the most technically and visually impressive shooters of 2025. The game has already been praised by fellow developers as a “technical marvel” of Unreal Engine 5. ARC Raiders is available now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
