Frostpunk Sinks: Drownlight Trailer Reveals How to Survive After a Global Flood

Developer Fathomlight and publisher Crytivo have announced Drownlight, a city-building survival simulator that the team describes as “Frostpunk on water.” This time, humanity isn’t freezing — it’s drowning. With ocean levels swallowing entire continents, the last remnants of civilization struggle to endure atop floating settlements.
Instead of a generator, the main source of hope is a colossal lighthouse whose light wards off mysterious creatures lurking beneath the waves. The light is life itself — it repels danger, draws in survivors, and unites people around the final floating city.
Players will manage resources, expand infrastructure, and maintain the morale of their citizens. As in Frostpunk, every decision has a cost: refusing workers’ requests could spark rebellion, while poor resource management may doom the settlement entirely. Meanwhile, the elements themselves will remain a constant threat — storms will destroy structures, and periods of dead calm will cut off access to fuel and food.
Drownlight doesn’t yet have a release date — the Steam page currently lists it as “Coming Soon,” with players invited to join playtests. Even from the first trailer, though, it’s clear the developers aim to capture the same bleak atmosphere of survival and sacrifice that defined Frostpunk — only this time, under the hum of the waves and the glow of a lone lighthouse in the dark.
Earlier, we reported on the release of Tales of Old: Dominus, an open-world RPG featuring crafting, stealth, and a brutal combat system.
