Huawei Releases PCs with Its Own Processors and Operating System

Huawei continues to develop its line of desktop computers. As part of this strategy, two new models have been introduced—the Qingyun W515y and W585y—with the key feature being the use of the company's own Kirin 9000X processor. The hardware platform of these new devices is complemented by the Tongxin UOS V20 and Galaxy Kylin V10 operating systems. Both OSes are built on a Linux base and are part of a broader trend of the Chinese market transitioning to domestic software.

The manufacturer has not yet disclosed the detailed specifications of the Kirin 9000X processor. It is known to be an eight-core, sixteen-thread design from HiSilicon, a Huawei subsidiary, with a base clock speed of 2.5 GHz. This chip replaces the Kirin 9000C used in the previous generation of devices. Information regarding the performance of the new processor's integrated graphics or the amount of RAM in the computers is not yet available.

As for the system units themselves, their design and core features remain largely unchanged. The dimensions are the same, though the weight has been slightly reduced and now stands at 3.6 kg. On the front panel, users will find a USB Type-C port, three standard USB 3.2 ports, and a combo audio jack. The rear panel houses additional USB ports, an Ethernet interface, HDMI and VGA video outputs, as well as a serial port for connecting specialized equipment.

The bundle includes a wired K100 keyboard and an M100 mouse. Information regarding the sales start date and pricing for the new Huawei desktops is currently unavailable.

Huawei had previously announced a partnership with single-board computer maker Orange Pi, and this cooperation is now bearing its first fruit. Coinciding with the launch of the Qingyun desktops, the Orange Pi AI Studio mini-PC was introduced, built around two Huawei Ascend 310 processors. While the company's new computers are aimed at the broader market, this device is focused on specific artificial intelligence tasks.
