Solo MMORPG 'Erenshor' by Solo Developer Won't Leave Early Access for at Least Two More Years
Artis Kenderik
Erenshor — a retro MMORPG where all players are replaced by AI mimicking player behavior — has been in Steam Early Access since April of this year. Developer Burgee Media confirmed that it could take another two years before the version 1.0 release. Notably, it's being developed by one person.
The initial goal at launch was 18-24 months, and I'm still on schedule.
Criteria for the full release include adding new classes, guild content, and raids. The Steam page also mentions hardcore endgame content, including horizontal progression, items, spells, quests, and events.
Burgee Media will only announce the exact release date when it's "on the horizon." Right now, it's impossible to determine the timeline, as the community is finding bugs and development is taking longer than expected.
Responding to players who typically avoid early access, the developer admitted that he himself "often" doesn't buy such games, as wipes and restarts don't appeal to him. Therefore, he's making sure Erenshor doesn't devolve into that.
I just released the rest of the 2025 roadmap. Next is planning and developing features for 2026, leaving, hopefully, 2027 for the full release.
On Steam, the project has 94% positive reviews out of 1,440 ("Overwhelmingly Positive"). Players praise the nostalgic atmosphere of classic MMORPGs, the character system, and the lack of need to adjust to other players' schedules.
