The market has been enriched by an interesting new product for developers and open-source enthusiasts. The KDE community, in collaboration with Slimbook, has introduced the 16-inch KDE Slimbook VII laptop, which focuses on performance and screen quality.

The device is powered by the AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 processor, which, paired with the integrated Radeon 880M graphics, promises to handle not only everyday tasks but also workloads requiring significant computing resources. Users working with virtual machines or code compilation will benefit from the two RAM slots supporting up to 128 GB of DDR5 memory.

The manufacturer paid special attention to the display: a 16-inch IPS panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 165 Hz refresh rate is designed to ensure comfortable work and smooth visuals. The stated 100% coverage of the sRGB color space and 400 nits brightness indicate that the screen is also suitable for tasks where color accuracy is important. For data storage, the laptop provides two M.2 slots for high-speed NVMe drives, allowing flexible system configuration to suit one's needs—for example, by installing two SSDs with a total capacity of up to 8 TB.

The portable computer comes with the KDE Neon operating system pre-installed, which is based on Ubuntu LTS. This choice makes the device friendly for those just starting their journey with Linux. At the start of sales, the base version of the KDE Slimbook VII with 16 GB of RAM and a 500 GB storage drive is priced at €1029. The laptop is already available for order in the official online store with a choice of keyboard layouts.

Previously, Fujitsu introduced the lightest 14-inch notebook weighing just 634 grams, focused on mobility. In contrast, this new AMD Ryzen AI model prioritizes not miniaturization, but balanced performance for resource-intensive tasks and working within a Linux environment.
