Disney says Andor cost more than $700 million — the most expensive Star Wars project ever produced

Andor is often cited as one of the best Star Wars projects to date — and the price tag reflects it. According to Disney, producing the show’s two seasons cost a combined $705.5 million.
That total exceeds the budget of any film in the galaxy far, far away. Even so, the creators stayed within the planned spending and never requested additional funding.
Andor also stands out as the only Star Wars series to maintain consistently positive audience reception. Other shows haven’t been as fortunate: user ratings for The Mandalorian have dipped with each season, while The Acolyte was quickly criticized, including over its “diverse” cast.
Next year, Disney will release The Mandalorian & Grogu, the franchise’s first fully fledged theatrical film in years. Another movie is set to follow in 2027, with Ryan Gosling in the lead role.
