After Charlie Cox, nominated for The Game Awards for the role of Gustave in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, stated that the real credit belongs to motion capture actor Maxence Cazorla, a wave of support rose in the industry.

Cox was supported by Roger Clark, who played Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2. On his X page, he wrote:

This is a noble gesture on Cox's part, and it helps draw attention to the complexities that actors in video games face. Sometimes several people work on one character at once — voice actors, motion capture specialists, stunt performers, and even face models. And there are also animators and designers. It takes a village to bring one character to life.
— Roger Clark

Clark also suggested considering whether all participants in such collective roles should be recognized at awards:

If several artists work on an image, why not recognize them all?

This idea was also supported by Aliona Baranova, former motion capture director for Baldur's Gate 3 and partner of actress Jennifer English, who played Maelle in Expedition 33. According to her, the industry has long needed to introduce a separate category for motion capture actors — "for those who create magic with their bodies and movements."

Earlier, Maxence Cazorla thanked Cox for his generosity, noting that "bringing Gustave to life was teamwork."
