Will 'Hogwarts Legacy' Sequel Still Be a Single-Player RPG? New Job Listings Refute MMO Rumors

This is hinted at by a series of fresh job listings published by the studio: one of them is looking for an executive producer for a "high-quality single-player action-adventure with RPG elements," another for a brand management and marketing specialist for games in the Harry Potter universe, as well as an animator familiar with "human and animal anatomy" and creature creation. All this surprisingly matches the requirements for employees during the development of the original Hogwarts Legacy.
Earlier, Warner Bros. announcements sparked a wave of speculation that Hogwarts Legacy 2 might be an online project with live service elements, since progression systems and work with a "well-known fantasy IP" were mentioned. However, now everything points to a return to the format that fans loved the game for — a single-player adventure in the spirit of classic RPGs.
Insiders suggest that Avalanche Software may be simultaneously working on several projects in the Harry Potter universe — possibly on a separate online game and a story sequel.
Warner Bros. is actively developing the Wizarding World brand: ahead are an HBO series based on Rowling's books and the opening of the Ministry of Magic themed area at Universal Orlando. Against this backdrop, it would hardly surprise anyone if the studio decides not to stop at one successful hit.
Recall that Hogwarts Legacy became one of the best-selling games of 2023, generating over $1 billion in revenue — so the question of whether there will be a sequel has apparently already changed to what it will be like.
