"Stranger Things + Persona": Tactical RPG 'Demonschool' Received Major Patch and Discount — It Has 95% Positive Reviews on Steam

Demonschool gathered 95% positive reviews on Steam (521 reviews) within a week after release and received its second major post-release update — plus a temporary 10% discount.

Demonschool is a tactical RPG with a strong lean toward early Persona atmosphere and old-school horror, where "movement = action" and all moves are planned in advance and executed simultaneously. Players control Faye and her squad of students who fight demonic creatures at night and live ordinary university life during the day.

What changed in the latest update:

  • Removed the non-working Add Stun skill that accidentally remained in the release build. Points are refunded for the purchase.
  • Added v-sync and FPS limit in settings menu.
  • Improved character profile — now shows exact time of students' return from rest or studies.
  • Fixed several combat bugs, including an error with the Stoic technique and situations where Cross Slash strikes didn't deal damage in a group with immobile enemies.
  • Fixed numerous typos and visual details.

Developers continue to actively patch the game — the community has a feeling that the project is smoothly transitioning from the "wait a couple updates" category to "can get right now."

What players are writing:

Very addictive tactics: stylish battles, gorgeous visuals, and truly sparkling presentation. Soundtrack is fire.
— Argophrax
So far a fantastic game. Love the overall atmosphere and unique combat system.
— ls33
Nice homage to SMT and early Persona. The ironic mood of Stranger Things — they nailed it.
— Dominique de Coco
Very stylish game with unique tactical combat and cool humor.
— Blueberry Muffin
Sometimes a project doesn't do anything super special, but does everything right — this is exactly that case.
— TheVeryNoob

There's also criticism — some write that the visual style is "an acquired taste" and that the game feels more like puzzle tactics. But this is a minority: the overwhelming number of reviews are praising.

Earlier, we reported on the free stealth action game Not My War — a story about a ferret surviving in a world of dangerous robots. The game is compared to Stray.
