Hideo Kojima isn’t just a cinephile with a director’s eye — he’s also a well-known style icon. Recently, the game designer appeared in GQ Japan to talk about the ten essential items in his life.
Kojima’s must-have set includes everything from cotton swabs to vinyl records, watches, and perfume. The feature also revealed that he’s a serious coffee lover — he drinks seven cups a day.
Hideo Kojima’s must-have items:

- Seiko Astron SSH097 wristwatch and a Hamilton model inspired by Death Stranding;

Earlier, GQ Japan named Hideo Kojima its Creator of the Year for 2025. The magazine noted that Kojima not only develops games but also shapes a new entertainment language at the intersection of art, cinema, and interactive media. This year, he released Death Stranding 2 and is now working on the horror title OD.
