The PC version of Helldivers 2 now weighs 85% less

The PC version of the Helldivers 2 now weighs 131 GB less. The developers from Arrowhead studio reported on the success in reducing the size of the game.

Helldivers 2 takes place a century after the events of the first part. Humans defeated external enemies and began to explore space using a unique substance created from the remains of defeated enemies.

The size of the game — 154 GB — has become a problem for many players. The developers emphasized that they were aware of this and were looking for a solution.

The problem was solved by deleting duplicate files. As a result, the installation volume decreased to 23 GB.

Duplicate files were needed to support the owners of the hard drives, otherwise they would have waited too long to download. However, Arrowhead assured that the solution found will not affect the speed of the game.

The lite version of Helldivers 2 can already be tested. To do this, open the game properties on Steam, go to the "Beta versions" section and select «prod_Slim». In the near future, the main client of the game will switch to this model.

Earlier Arrowhead Studio announced the release of a new premium Python Commando warbond add-on for Helldivers 2. The set will bring a powerful arsenal, equipment in the style of tropical commandos and jungle tactics to the game.
