ChatGPT users have spotted a new feature that generates a short holiday greeting video featuring themselves. To trigger the option, it's enough to send the gift emoji into the chat. After sending the symbol, an interface prompt appears inviting you to upload a photo. The neural network then processes the image and creates a clip where you are inserted into the frame alongside Santa Claus.
The feature works based on the Sora 2 model, and the greeting's content is formed automatically: the system analyzes the user's chat history with the bot to personalize the message. Users have no direct control over the video's script or settings.
A quirk of the feature is that you can't create a new video a second time—even starting a new chat will show the already generated clip. The resulting video can be saved to your device or shared.
A similar result can be achieved using other holiday emojis (Santa Claus or Christmas Tree). Currently, the ability to create videos with user participation via the main ChatGPT app is available to everyone, including users on the free tier.
This new video Easter egg has appeared in the service alongside other updates to creative tools. ChatGPT had previously rolled out an improved image generator (ChatGPT Images 1.5), which now better follows complex instructions and works several times faster than the previous version.
