Player Beats Super Meat Boy at 106% With Zero Deaths — After 15 Years and 700 Hours of Practice

Speedrunner shredberg has become the first person in history to fully complete Super Meat Boy without a single death — an achievement finally accomplished in December 2024, 15 years after the game’s release. The run required an estimated 700–800 hours of practice and at least 100,000 deaths across training attempts.
The game is infamous for its extreme difficulty, and even clearing individual worlds without dying is considered a major feat. However, a full 106% completion with zero deaths had never been achieved before. Shredberg’s flawless final run lasted around two hours and included all bonus levels.
Super Meat Boy creator Edmund McMillen reacted to the achievement on Twitter, congratulating the player with messages like “Congrats!” and “You rock!” along with an emoji. For the community, it was a genuine sensation — the game is so punishing that even hardcore platformer fans avoided attempting such a challenge for 15 years.
Previously, we reported on the announcement of a Slavic mythology–inspired metroidvania coming to Steam. A demo version is already available.
