Baldur's Gate 3 won the “Labor of Love” category at the Steam Awards 2025, but even the game’s own community has questioned whether the choice was fair. A heated discussion unfolded

on the game’s subreddit, where many players argued that the award should have gone to No Man's Sky.

The main argument from critics is that Larian Studios has largely wrapped up major post-launch support for BG3, while Hello Games continues to release large-scale updates for No Man’s Sky years after its launch. In 2025, Baldur’s Gate 3 received Patch 8, which added 12 new subclasses, crossplay, and mod support — but many felt this was not enough to justify winning the category.

Players also pointed out that No Man’s Sky released its 6.0 “Voyagers” update in August, alongside numerous other updates throughout the year. The game has been nominated for the award six times over its ten-year lifespan, yet has never won. Some commenters also mentioned Stardew Valley and other titles as more deserving candidates.
