Far Cry 3 is Getting 60 FPS Support on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S

Ubisoft has announced an upcoming update for Far Cry 3 Classic Edition that will finally bring 60 FPS support to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The patch is set to go live on January 21.
Originally released in 2012, Far Cry 3 is a seminal open-world first-person shooter developed by Ubisoft Montreal. The story follows Jason Brody, who ends up stranded on a tropical island after a skydiving trip goes horribly wrong. Captured by pirates led by the infamous Vaas Montenegro, Jason must escape, team up with local rebels, and wage a guerrilla war to rescue his friends.
In other news, a live-action Far Cry series is currently in the works. The project features a heavy-hitting creative team including showrunners Noah Hawley (Fargo, Legion, Alien: Earth) and Rob McElhenney, with McElhenney also set to star in the first season. Filming is expected to begin in 2026, though no release window has been set.
This update follows recent reports suggesting that Ubisoft is working on a remaster of the MMO shooter Tom Clancy's The Division. Additionally, the company recently shuttered the studio responsible for the mobile title Assassin's Creed Rebellion.
