Nexus Mods acquires SteamDB, the popular database tracking Steam games, stats and more

Nexus Mods has announced the acquisition of SteamDB, one of the most popular independent services for tracking Steam game statistics and detailed information. The site was built and maintained by a single person for many years, but its creator eventually became burned out and decided it was time to hand the project over to new owners.

According to SteamDB's founder, years of running the site on his own had taken their toll. He also struggled to find someone capable of taking over the project and continuing his work. In the end, he decided to sell SteamDB to the Nexus Mods team.

The new owners say they plan to keep the service largely as it is and have no intention of turning it into another commercial platform. At the same time, Nexus Mods plans to invest more money into SteamDB to accelerate its development, improve its infrastructure and introduce new features.

SteamDB will eventually also be integrated with Nexus Mods. The goal is to create a closer connection between the Steam game database and the popular modding platform, although no details about the planned integration have been revealed yet.

SteamDB has been around since 2012 and has long been one of the go-to tools for tracking Steam prices, updates, player statistics, change history and other game-related data. The service is particularly popular with users who keep an eye on sales, upcoming releases and technical updates.
