8BitDo has introduced new gaming accessories — the Retro 87 mechanical keyboard and the Retro R8 mouse. Both devices are designed in the style of the original Xbox console, which was released in 2001.
The keyboard features 87 keys with Kailh Jellyfish X switches, n-key rollover (unlimited simultaneous key presses), and double-shot ABS keycaps with a matte UV coating for increased durability.
It supports the proprietary Ultimate Software V2 and has RGB backlighting. Additionally, the Retro 87 can be connected to a PC in three ways: via USB (wired connection), a 2.4 GHz adapter, and Bluetooth 5.0. The keyboard is compatible with Windows 10 (or later) and Android 9.0. The package includes themed Super Buttons.
The Retro R8 mouse is also compatible with Android 9.0 and Windows 10 and offers three connection types (USB, 2.4 GHz adapter, and Bluetooth LE 5.3). It weighs 77 grams. Key features include a PAW 3395 sensor, six DPI adjustment levels, and a variable polling rate, which can be configured in the proprietary software. The mouse is expected to last up to 100 hours in Bluetooth mode or up to 105 hours in 2.4 GHz mode.
The Retro 87 is priced at $120, while the Retro R8 costs $60. Sales begin on January 16.
