Sony has rolled out a new software update for the PlayStation 5, version 25.06-12.02.00. According to the official description, the update includes some security-related fixes. No other details about additional features or changes have been disclosed.
In practice, this means the company is continuing its efforts to patch vulnerabilities and prevent console hacking and jailbreaking.
Typically, these updates are aimed at protecting the system, but Sony sometimes implements changes that aren’t listed in the patch notes—players often discover them later on.
The previous software update (25.06-12.00.00) introduced a power saving feature for supported PS5 games. To enable it, head to "System," select "Power Saving," and then go to the "Use Power Saving" menu.
Additionally, in September, the DualSense controller received an update that allowed it to be registered on multiple devices simultaneously.
Recently, news surfaced that an updated PS5 Pro and DualSense V3 controller with a removable battery are set to launch in November, according to insider Graczdari.
