The latest performance results for mobile devices are in, and the newest Xiaomi 17 series flagships have taken the top spots on the list of the fastest Android phones. The launch of the updated AnTuTu V11 testing platform has reshuffled the platform's performance leaderboard, with every score in the final ranking coming exclusively from the new system.

The top three Android spots were claimed by the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and the standard Xiaomi 17. All three devices are powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. Notably, the average score difference between them is minor, suggesting that the core performance of the chipset is being fully utilized in each model. The slight edge of the top-tier model is likely due to its more advanced cooling system.

Beyond Xiaomi's flagships, the top ten includes smartphones from iQOO, Vivo, and other brands, which also utilize the latest mobile platforms. On the Apple side of things, the highest scores in their category were posted by iPads with M4 and M3 chips. The flagship iPhone 17 Pro Max ranked just below, which is typical given the differences in power consumption and cooling between smartphones and tablets.

The benchmark version change makes a direct comparison with previous scores meaningless. This makes the September results a new baseline for device performance in the coming months. Models based on another new processor—the Dimensity 9500—are expected to join the race soon, which could shake up the current rankings.

This growing power of mobile processors isn't an end in itself but a foundation for new capabilities. Speed is no longer the only focus; the presence of specialized hardware for generative AI is becoming increasingly important. Analysts note that chips capable of processing text, images, and audio offline are no longer a novelty and are becoming commonplace even in mid-range smartphones. Ultimately, performance today isn't just about benchmark numbers—it's the foundation for the intelligent features that will soon become standard for everyone.
