Leading PC manufacturers, Lenovo and Dell, have started informing their partners about an imminent price revision. According to industry sources, the cost of laptops and ready-made PCs could rise by an average of 15–20% in the coming months. Based on internal notifications, the current pricing from Chinese manufacturer Lenovo will be strictly valid until January 1, 2026, and the company recommends that customers and resellers place their orders before this date to avoid the increase. Dell, according to some reports, may adjust prices even earlier — in mid-December of this year.

The primary reason cited for the upcoming changes is the rapid rise in component costs, primarily memory modules. As noted in the industry, prices for some types of memory have increased by tens of percent over the year, significantly raising production costs. Previously, manufacturers tried to offset this increase by reducing their own margins, but now that option seems to be exhausted. Raising prices appears to be the only way to avoid operating at a loss.

An additional factor putting pressure on prices is the growing demand for more powerful systems for artificial intelligence tasks. Corporate clients are increasingly transitioning to high-performance configurations, which also affects the overall cost of devices. Experts predict that the price increase may temporarily slow sales volumes in the PC market next year. According to preliminary estimates, instead of the expected growth, laptop shipments in 2026 could instead decline by several percent.

For end consumers, this means that purchasing a new computer might be best planned before the end of this year. This is especially true for business-class models and gaming laptops, where the impact of memory costs is most noticeable.

The future availability and cost of memory in the coming years could be shaped by structural changes in the chip market itself. As reported earlier, one of the three key global manufacturers, Micron, will completely cease shipments of consumer products under the Crucial brand starting February 2026. The company plans to reorient its production capacity toward the more profitable segment of manufacturing memory for AI servers and data centers.
