Google Photos Launches 'Me Meme' Generator That Uses Your Own Photos

Google has begun rolling out a new 'Me Meme' feature within the Google Photos app. The tool utilizes generative artificial intelligence to create personalized memes from photos stored in a user's media library.

The feature is available in the "Creativity" section under the Create tab in the mobile apps for Android and iOS. To create a meme, you need to select one of the suggested templates or upload your own image as a base, and then specify a photo with a clearly visible face. After AI processing, the user can save the result to their library, generate an alternative version, or immediately share it on social networks and messengers.

Me Meme is operating in a testing phase and is currently only being distributed to users in the United States. However, as with most Google products, the availability will gradually expand to more regions. The exact list of available templates hasn't been disclosed. The test launch for the generator took place in October of last year.

This new feature continues the expansion of Google Photos' creative toolkit, which previously introduced tools for creating collages, animated images, video highlights, and photo remixes. The company positions Me Meme as an easy way to create fun content for personal communication.

A worldwide release for the feature, as well as a possible integration of similar functionality into the Gemini app, has not yet been announced. Users outside the U.S. will only be able to try the tool after testing concludes and the official geographic rollout expands.
