Apple has officially announced the iPhone 17e, a more affordable version of the iPhone 17 that brings several important upgrades without raising the starting price.
The new model is powered by the A19 chip—just like the standard iPhone 17—and features the updated C1X connectivity module, which offers double the data transfer speeds compared to the previous generation.
Key Upgrades: MagSafe and Storage
One of the standout additions is MagSafe, which is finally making its way to the budget lineup. The iPhone 17e now supports fast wireless charging up to 15W and is compatible with Apple’s range of magnetic accessories, including cases, wallets, stands, and more.
Additionally, the base storage has been bumped up to 256GB—twice as much as the iPhone 16e and four times more than the iPhone 12 at launch. This means more space for high-res photos, videos, and large apps.
Camera and Design
The iPhone 17e features a single 48MP Fusion camera with 2x optical zoom and supports 4K Dolby Vision video recording at up to 60 FPS. The 6.1-inch OLED display has a 60Hz refresh rate, and while the “Dynamic Island” feature hasn’t made its way to this model yet, the familiar notch remains on the front.
Colors and Pricing
The phone will be available in three colors: black, white, and soft pink. The starting price is $599. Pre-orders open on March 4, with sales beginning March 11.
New iPad Air
Alongside the iPhone 17e, Apple also introduced a new iPad Air featuring the M4 chip, 12GB of RAM, and Wi-Fi 7 support.
Key specs include:
- M4 chip — up to 30% performance boost over the previous generation;
- C1X connectivity module and N1 modem — for fast, stable wireless connections;
- 12GB RAM for seamless multitasking;
- 11-inch model starting at $599;
- 13-inch model starting at $799;
- Sales begin March 11.
Apple promises the new iPad Air is perfect for both everyday use and demanding AI or resource-heavy apps.
By the way, Apple recently set a historic record in the US market, surpassing Samsung.
