NVIDIA Pushes Out DLSS with 6X Mode, but the Feature Is Still Officially “In Development”
According to user reports on Reddit, NVIDIA has started rolling out updates related to the new version of its upscaling and frame generation technology. We're talking about the Streamline 2.11 and DLSSG 310.6.0 files, which the company is delivering via its OTA (Over-The-Air) update mechanism, bypassing an official announcement in the NVIDIA App.
It looks like they're getting the groundwork ready for implementing two features: Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and MFG with a 6x multiplier. Both technologies are aimed at owners of GeForce RTX 50-series graphics cards, although enthusiasts have already found a way to force-enable them on older GPUs using third-party tools like NVIDIA Profile Inspector.
Dynamic Multi Frame Generation differs from the usual approach in that the frame generation multiplier isn't fixed but adapts in real-time. The system automatically adjusts how aggressively the technology works based on the scene or current load to maintain smooth visuals without sharp spikes in output latency. The 6X Multi Frame Generation mode takes things a step further, allowing up to five artificially generated frames for every one traditionally rendered frame. According to NVIDIA, moving from 4X to 6X can boost frame rates in 4K games with path tracing by up to 35% on current-gen GPUs.
The files are being distributed in the background when the DLSS Override feature is enabled in the driver settings. Although the official interface for managing the new modes will arrive later with an update to the NVIDIA App beta, the libraries are technically already on users' computers. This is confirmed both by screenshots of the settings and the update logs being shared by members of enthusiast communities.
At this time, NVIDIA hasn’t officially announced a release date for the beta version of the app with full support for these technologies, but the mere fact that the DLL files are being distributed suggests that the launch is imminent and DLSS 4.5 is about to get a major update. Force-enabling these features via Profile Inspector, as users are reporting, requires a certain level of know-how and doesn't guarantee stable performance across all titles, but it does show that the functionality is already baked into the current driver version.
What do you think — is it worth waiting for the official release in the NVIDIA App, or are you tempted to try enabling the new frame generation modes manually right now? Share your thoughts in the comments.
