Xiaomi 17T Spotted in Regulator Database: Base Model Snatches a Feature From the Pro
Official images of the yet-to-be-announced Xiaomi 17T smartphone have surfaced in Brazil’s Anatel regulatory database. The published series of pictures shows the base model ready for mass production. The key change compared to the Xiaomi 15T is the flash placement. While last year’s model had it inside the square camera bump, engineers have now moved it outside the module. The camera platform itself retains its familiar shape, but the internal layout of components has changed.
The side edges remain flat with no rounding, and all the physical buttons (volume rocker and power) are concentrated on the right side of the chassis. The display is framed by bezels of standard thickness, and the front camera sits in a small cutout centered at the top of the screen. The most noticeable upgrade concerns the telephoto lens: whereas its predecessor featured a classic telephoto camera, the Xiaomi 17T photos reveal a periscope optical design. Previously, such a solution was reserved only for Pro versions of the lineup. This type of construction increases optical zoom without adding thickness to the body.
The accompanying documentation records the commercial model code 2602DPT53G. It also states that official shipments to Brazil will be handled by DL, the company representing Xiaomi in the local market. Confirmed connectivity modules include Wi‑Fi 6 (without 6 GHz band support), Bluetooth, 5G, and NFC.
The retail package includes an MDY-15-ET charging adapter rated at 67W. The battery is listed in the documents with a nominal capacity of 6,360 mAh. Earlier, the base Xiaomi 17T surfaced in a Geekbench performance test with a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset. Rumors suggest the main camera will get 50 MP sensors, the telephoto 50 MP, and the ultrawide module 12 MP. The operating system will be Android 16. The launch is expected in May, but a specific date has not been announced yet, nor has an estimated price.
The Xiaomi 17T looks like an iterative update where the main improvements are focused on optics and battery life. The move to a periscope telephoto lens on the base model closes the gap between the regular and Pro versions. In early April, Xiaomi officially announced a price hike for its Redmi-branded products.
What do you think — will this kind of hardware become standard across the whole lineup, or is it a one-off move to boost interest before the next flagship arrives?
