Motorola has updated several device categories in its portfolio, unveiling the Moto G87 smartphone as well as a new line of Razr foldables, including the brand’s first book-style model, the Razr Fold. The devices have already been announced for various markets, including Europe, the US, and Latin America.
The Moto G87 arrives as the successor to last year’s G-series model, bringing notable upgrades to the display and camera. The main highlight is a 200MP sensor with optical image stabilization and Ultra Pixel technology. According to the manufacturer, this should improve low-light photography and deliver more accurate detail. The main camera is backed by an 8MP ultra-wide module, while the front camera comes in at 32MP. The phone also supports a range of software-based photo processing features via Google Photos.
The display is a 6.78-inch AMOLED with 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits. Inside, it runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 6400 processor, with either 4 or 8GB of RAM depending on the variant, and up to 256GB of internal storage expandable via microSD up to 2TB. There’s also a RAM Boost feature that can virtually expand memory up to 24GB. The battery comes in at 5,200mAh with support for 30W fast charging. Other features include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, IP68/IP69 dust/water resistance, and MIL-STD-810H military-grade durability. Pricing starts at $470.
The big news in the foldable lineup is the Razr Fold — Motorola’s first book-style smartphone. It features an 8.1-inch inner display and a 6.6-inch external screen. Both panels support HDR10+, and the inner one uses LTPO technology. It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip, with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. The battery capacity is 6,000mAh, supporting 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The camera setup includes multiple high-resolution modules, and one of the standout features is support for the separately sold Moto Pen Ultra stylus. The device measures under 10mm thick when folded and around 4.6mm when unfolded. Pricing comes in at $1,899 (approx. 142,000 RUB), with pre-orders starting in May and sales kicking off on the 21st.
Alongside the Razr Fold, Motorola has refreshed its lineup of flip-style foldables — the Razr, Razr Plus, and Razr Ultra. The base model features a 6.9-inch inner display, a Dimensity 7450X chip, and a 4,800mAh battery. The more advanced Plus variant uses a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, a higher external screen refresh rate, and an upgraded camera. The flagship Razr Ultra is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Elite, 16GB of RAM, and a 5,000mAh battery with faster charging. All devices support modern connectivity standards, including Wi-Fi 7 on the higher-end models, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and run on Android 16. Prices range from $800 to $1,500 depending on the version.
The launch of Motorola’s new models comes amid intensifying competition in the foldable device space. Samsung and Google already have offerings in the segment, and new players are expected to enter the market. Meanwhile, Motorola continues to bet on expanding its lineup and offering more affordable options in the mid-range.
What do you think — can Motorola with its updated Razr lineup and the new Razr Fold truly compete with Samsung in the foldable smartphone space, or is the market already locked up by the leaders? Share your thoughts in the comments!
