MediaTek Just Put Arm’s New C1 Cores Inside a Smartphone Chip for the First Time

MediaTek has announced the Dimensity 7500, which is a direct successor to last year’s Dimensity 7400 — but with a radically different setup inside. The chip is the first in the mid‑tier segment to use Arm C1 computing cores, which haven’t been seen in mainstream phones before.

The processor is built on a 4nm process, and the CPU cluster follows a 4+4 layout: four high‑performance Arm C1 Pro cores running at up to 2.6 GHz, and four power‑efficient Arm C1 Nano cores going up to 2.0 GHz. Graphics are handled by a Mali‑G625 MC2 GPU. According to MediaTek, this combo delivers a noticeable leap over its predecessor in real‑world use. The NPU 850 neural unit is also worth a special mention — its performance has more than doubled compared to the previous generation. Meanwhile, MediaTek is also prepping chips for Windows laptops.

MediaTek shared concrete performance gains from its internal tests. Compared to the Dimensity 7400:

Power draw has also been optimised — efficiency in everyday apps improved by 5–9%, and in gaming scenarios by 4–7%. In practice, that should mean slightly gentler battery drain when doing the same tasks. The platform supports LPDDR5 RAM and dual‑channel UFS 3.1 storage. The modem delivers peak cellular download speeds of up to 5.2 Gbit/s, while the wireless side includes Wi‑Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4. For displays, it supports resolutions up to 1344×2800 pixels at a 144Hz refresh rate. Cameras can go up to 200MP, and video recording is possible in 4K with 10‑bit HDR. It also supports running both the main and an extra display simultaneously — for foldable phones, for example.

There’s no official list of partner manufacturers yet. MediaTek only said that the first devices powered by the Dimensity 7500 will arrive sometime in 2026. Traditionally, names like Honor, Xiaomi, and OPPO are among the early adopters. Earlier, Xiaomi announced its 17T series, which will feature Dimensity 8500‑Ultra and Dimensity 9500 chips.
