Two CPUs for Gamers at Once: AMD Brings Back the Ryzen 7 5800X3D and Announces a New Ryzen 7 7700X3D
AMD has announced several new products at once for users of its desktop platforms. The manufacturer confirmed the return of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, introduced the new Ryzen 7 7700X3D, extended support for the AM5 socket, and announced the global launch of the Radeon RX 9070 GRE graphics card.
One of the biggest announcements is the return of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D — the processor will reappear on the market as a special 10th Anniversary Edition, released to celebrate a decade of the AM4 platform. From a technical standpoint, the new version is no different from the original model. The CPU still features 8 cores and 16 threads based on the Zen 3 architecture, runs at up to 4.5 GHz, packs 100 MB of cache, and has a 105W TDP. As before, the chip is aimed primarily at gaming systems. What sets the Anniversary Edition apart from the standard version is updated packaging and an extra accessory in the box. Buyers will receive a Carbice Ice Pad thermal pad, designed for long-term heat dissipation from the CPU. Sales of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition kick off on June 25 at a suggested price of $349.
For the AM5 platform, AMD also introduced the new Ryzen 7 7700X3D. The processor comes with 8 cores, 16 threads, a boost clock of up to 4.5 GHz, and 104 MB of cache. The new chip is positioned as a more affordable 3D V-Cache solution for gaming PCs. Sales begin on July 16 at a suggested price of $329, making it cheaper than the Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition. At the same time, AMD announced an extension of support for the AM5 platform, stating that the socket will remain relevant until at least 2029, giving current system owners more upgrade options down the line.
Additionally, AMD announced the global launch of the Radeon RX 9070 GRE graphics card. The model was previously exclusive to China. The card features 12 GB of VRAM and 48 compute units, with a suggested US price of $549.
What do you think looks more interesting for users: the return of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D for AM4, the arrival of the more affordable Ryzen 7 7700X3D for the AM5 platform, or yet another graphics card? Share your thoughts in the comments.
