Apple Announces iOS 27 Lineup for All Devices

WWDC 2026 has kicked off, and the first thing Apple unveiled was the iOS 27 lineup, with the main focus of the presentation being on Siri and Apple Intelligence. They promise to make it more polished than anything before, as well as faster and "smarter." On iPhone, you'll be able to make the Liquid Glass design more customizable and adjust the transparency, while icons will adapt to the system settings.

They also promise to improve CPU and GPU usage, screen swiping will become faster, apps will run up to 30% faster overall, and AirDrop will be 80% faster. Smart processor tuning will optimize smartphones for higher performance and responsiveness, and this will be available starting with the iPhone 11. File search on the device will also be optimized thanks to a new search index (within the Mail app and across the entire device).

The system will get a deep parental control system, and all apps on a child's smartphone can be disabled remotely, or you can set time limits for how many hours per day an app can be used.

Apple Intelligence has reached a new level and received a new architecture, which will be built around the products and apps that users interact with every day. The new architecture is based on Gemini models, which confirms earlier leaks. AI and Siri will have access to all apps, giving them full control over the OS, while all processing will happen on the device for user security — an area they've placed extra emphasis on.

The OS will be available to developers today, the beta will be available in July, and the release is planned for fall.
