Xiaomi Is Prepping a Foldable Flagship with Its Own Chip, but It Won't Be Cheap

There are still a few months left until the official announcement of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 5, but new details about the company's upcoming foldable smartphone keep surfacing online. According to a leak, Xiaomi is planning to launch the Mix Fold 5 in Q3 2026, and the smartphone will retain many of the features of the prototype that appeared in earlier leaks.

According to the source, the device will have a flexible internal display with a diagonal of 7.5 to 7.6 inches. There's also talk of an improved display design with a less noticeable crease at the fold. For the main camera, Xiaomi may use a 200MP Samsung S5KHP5 sensor, which has already popped up in various leaks linked to Xiaomi devices.

Other expected features include a battery around 6,000 mAh, support for wireless charging, full water resistance, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner — although other manufacturers are already starting to pack in larger batteries. The insider also claims the smartphone might get Xiaomi's in-house chip, the Xring O3. It's still unclear what specific improvements the new chip will bring over the company's previous solutions.

One of the most talked-about details is the possible price. If the info pans out, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 5 will cost around 10,000 yuan (roughly $1400). Xiaomi hasn't officially revealed any specs or a launch date yet. But the number of leaks keeps growing — which usually happens just before a manufacturer kicks off an active marketing campaign.
