Xiaomi Launches Redmi 17C: Budget Smartphone With 120Hz Display and Headphone Jack

XIAOMI has introduced the Redmi 17C in China, positioning it as its most affordable smartphone for 2026. Standing out in the entry-level segment, the Redmi 17C offers features rarely seen at this price point, such as a high-refresh-rate display and a classic headphone jack.

The phone features a 6.88-inch screen with a 1640×720 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display supports DC-dimming and is TÜV Rheinland certified, which helps reduce eye strain during extended use. Powered by a MediaTek Helio G81 Ultra processor clocked up to 2.0 GHz, the Redmi 17C comes in two memory configurations: 4 GB RAM with either 64 GB or 128 GB of internal storage. Running on Xiaomi HyperOS 3, the device supports the Xiaomi Super Island feature, which provides dynamic notifications around the front camera cutout. Other hardware highlights include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3.5mm headphone jack — features that are increasingly rare in the budget segment.

For photography, the Redmi 17C is equipped with a 13 MP main camera and a 5 MP front-facing camera. It houses a 5160 mAh battery with support for up to 18W fast charging, and Xiaomi claims the battery will retain at least 80% of its capacity after 1000 charge cycles.

Available in black, red, and blue color options, all featuring a Starry Deco design, the Redmi 17C is priced at 799 yuan ($118) for the 4/64 GB version and 899 yuan ($133) for the 4/128 GB model in China. This makes it one of the most accessible smartphones with a 120Hz display, though some compromises in other components were necessary to achieve this price.
