AMD Unveils Ryzen AI Halo Mini-PC With 128 GB Unified Memory and $3,999 Price Tag
AMD has officially introduced the Ryzen AI Halo mini-PC, its first in-house system built on Strix Halo processors and aimed at professionals who require a compact workstation for local AI workloads. Unlike traditional setups that depend on cloud services or discrete graphics cards, the Ryzen AI Halo is designed to run AI models directly on the device. At launch, two configurations are available — one with Windows 11 Pro and one with Linux, both featuring identical hardware.
A key highlight of the Ryzen AI Halo is its massive 128 GB of unified LPDDR5X-8000 memory, shared between the CPU and integrated GPU. This is among the highest memory capacities available in compact workstations of this class. Both versions also include a 2 TB SSD, 10GbE Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4, with the system's total power draw rated at 120 W.
Powering the mini-PC is the flagship Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor from the Strix Halo family, which offers up to 16 Zen 5 cores and integrated Radeon 8060S graphics. This combination is intended to deliver high performance for AI workloads and demanding professional applications without requiring a separate GPU.
The official price for both the Windows and Linux versions is set at $3,999.99. For comparison, the closest competitor — the GMKtec EVO-X2, which also features 128 GB of unified memory — retails for around $3,400. Although announced, the Ryzen AI Halo is currently listed as "coming soon" and is not yet available for order. Initial sales will be limited to in-store pickup in select regions of the US, restricting early access to a narrow geographic area.
With its high price and limited launch availability, does the Ryzen AI Halo offer enough value for professionals seeking a compact, top-tier AI workstation?
