AMD Radeon drivers quietly expose MFG 8x and FSR override options

AMD's Radeon Adrenalin 26.6.2 WHQL drivers have surfaced new FSR controls in RadeonTuner, including a Multi Frame Generation ratio that goes up to 8x, before any official announcement from the company. That comes even as AMD already describes a frame-generation ratio option in GPUOpen for balancing performance and visual quality.

According to the new entries spotted in RadeonTuner, the tool shows "FSR Multi Frame Generation Ratio (Up To 8x)" alongside "FSR Multi Frame Generation Override." It also exposes "FSR Ray Regeneration Denoiser Override" and "FSR Neural Radiance Caching Override," suggesting that AMD is already testing broader control over its FSR pipeline.

The reported options were seen on a Radeon RX 9070 XT in RadeonTuner. PlayGround.ru also reported that experimental multi frame generation controls were limited to RDNA 4 or newer cards, and the same behavior appears to match what users are seeing here: the settings stay hidden unless experimental options are enabled.

AMD's own documentation says the ratio option lets users choose the desired frame-generation ratio for optimal performance and visual quality. In practical terms, 8x means one rendered frame and up to seven generated frames, so the setting would be a major step beyond the more common frame-generation modes.

The leak becomes even more interesting next to Jack Huynh's recent message, where he said:

We're bringing @AMD FSR Upscaling 4.1 to Radeon RX 7000 Series graphics cards, extending our latest machine learning...
— Jack Huynh, AMD executive

Taken together, the driver strings and Huynh's post suggest AMD may be laying the groundwork for a much larger FSR rollout.

For now, though, the key detail is that MFG 8x appeared in drivers before any official AMD announcement. Do you think this is a real preview of what AMD plans to ship, or just unfinished testing left visible in the drivers?
