Bloomberg: Apple is preparing a smart home display with Siri AI
Apple's long-promised smart home push is taking shape around a new Siri-powered hub, though Bloomberg says the device has already slipped several times as the assistant wasn't ready. The product is expected to sit at the center of Apple's next-generation home lineup.
The hub is said to feature a roughly 7-inch square display and run a new operating system based on tvOS. Its interface will blend elements of watchOS, iOS, and tvOS, giving it a look and feel drawn from several Apple platforms at once.
Apple is also planning a range of home-focused features for the device. It will support FaceTime video calls, home security monitoring, and an intercom system, while also letting users control smart appliances such as speakers and locks, view photos, access calendars, and play music. A facial recognition system will identify who is looking at the display and adjust the interface in real time.
The smart display is not the only new hardware in Apple's plans. The company is also preparing new Apple TV and HomePod mini models with faster processors for Siri AI support, with both reportedly due in fall 2026.
Apple expects to release the smart home hub between October and early next year. That schedule suggests the company still sees the product as a central part of its smart home push, even after the repeated delays tied to Siri.
It was previously revealed when Apple might introduce its camera-free smart glasses.
Will Apple finally ship this smart home hub on schedule, or could Siri delay it again?
