PS5 Shipments Surpass 95.3 Million Units

Sony has released its latest PlayStation 5 quarterly report, revealing that console sales have slowed significantly. As of June 30, 2026, worldwide PS5 shipments had reached 95.3 million units. During the three-month period ending on the same date, Sony Interactive Entertainment shipped 1.6 million consoles.

For comparison, Sony reported 93.7 million PS5 units shipped in the previous quarter. Growth has clearly begun to slow, with quarterly shipments down 36% year-over-year. At the same time, the company noted that it had secured enough memory supply to meet its projected PS5 sales for the entire fiscal year.

The software numbers are also worth noting. Between April and June 2026, players purchased 66.1 million PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 games, with 6 million copies coming from PlayStation Studios titles. Sony also reported that 82% of all game sales during the quarter were digital downloads.

The company also highlighted continued growth for PlayStation Network. Monthly active users reached 125 million, up 2% compared to the same period last year. With services and software continuing to grow, the slowdown in hardware shipments stands out even more.

Taken together, the figures paint an interesting picture. Sony's operating profit continues to increase, while PS5 shipments have declined noticeably year-over-year. Although the company's earnings report contains plenty of other financial details, the slowdown in PS5 shipments has once again become one of the biggest talking points.

Meanwhile, PlayStation players have announced a PSBlackout boycott scheduled for August 23–30 in protest of Sony's decision to phase out physical discs for future PlayStation releases.
