NVIDIA Adds Windows 11 ARM64 Support to RTX Neural Texture Compression SDK

NVIDIA's RTX Neural Texture Compression SDK now has a Windows 11 ARM64 build, following an August 6, 2026 update to the project on GitHub. The SDK now runs on Windows and Windows 11 ARM64, but NVIDIA still has not announced any shipping game with NTC support.

The updated documentation also lists RTX Spark as an example platform. The change was spotted by Compusemble, which drew attention to the new ARM64 build guide.

On Windows ARM64, the SDK supports DirectX 12, Vulkan, and CUDA-based compression. Developers need the Windows ARM64 developer preview of CUDA 13.4, Visual Studio 2022 with ARM64 build tools, and an NVIDIA R616-series or newer driver.

NVIDIA says DLSS and OptiX are not supported on Windows ARM64 and are disabled automatically. RTX Neural Texture Compression itself uses a small neural network to compress and reconstruct groups of material textures.

The SDK can combine up to 16 channels, including albedo, normal, roughness, metalness, and ambient occlusion, into one compressed texture set. NVIDIA says the technique can provide up to 16 times more texels with similar storage requirements.

That leaves one key question: if the SDK is already in developers' hands, when will the first shipping game actually support NTC?
