Asobi: Remote Play Brings PlayStation Streaming to Steam Deck in Playtest
The unofficial Asobi: Remote Play client from Inside Internet is still marked as coming soon on Steam, but it is already available in Steam Playtest on Steam Deck. The test build lets users try PlayStation Remote Play and PS Plus cloud streaming before the full release.
The app supports both Remote Play from a user's own PS4 or PS5 and PlayStation Plus cloud streaming. In cloud mode, players need a PlayStation Network account and an active PlayStation Plus Premium subscription, which lets them launch games from the PS Plus catalog as well as some digitally purchased PS5 titles.
Asobi's basic version streams at up to 1080p and 30 fps, with bitrate adjusted automatically. The premium version raises the frame rate to 60 fps and adds HDR, low-latency modes, controller haptics, and upscaling to 4K.
Good news everyone! The PlayTest for Asobi: Remote Play on Steam Deck, Steam Machine, and Linux is live now. All premium features are unlocked until the full release becomes available on the Steam Store. Cloud gaming will require a PSN account with an active PS Plus Premium Subscription.
The app can also run on other devices that support installing Steam apps, not just Steam Deck. On the Steam store page, it is still marked as coming soon, which means the release remains unfinished for now.
Do you think this unofficial app is the most practical way to get PS Plus cloud streaming on Steam Deck?
