Xbox reveals Gears of War: E-Day limited-edition controllers

Arkadiy Andrienko

Xbox has officially put one of its Gears of War: E-Day controllers up for pre-order at participating retailers worldwide, while the other will be sold through Design Lab. The standard model launches on September 30, 2026 for $89.99 / £84.99, and Xbox has already added a store page for it. The game itself has not arrived yet, which makes the timing of this release the main talking point.

The standard model leans heavily into the game's visual style, with cracked asphalt, glowing red cracks, a transparent red X button, red triggers, a transparent D-pad, and textured grips. Xbox says the design is

Inspired by the horror and brutality unleashed on Emergence Day

.

Microsoft is also preparing an Xbox Design Lab version, which will go on sale on September 30, 2026. That edition features artwork by Luke Preece with crossed Lancers and skulls, and it can be customized with metallic triggers and D-pads, rubberized side and back grips, plus personalized engraving.

A separate 8BitDo Ultimate Charging Dock with a Gears design is also heading to stores as a complementary accessory. It is listed at $39.99, and its shipping date is October 9, 2026.

Both controllers will be shown publicly at Xbox's booth during gamescom 2026. For now, though, the standout detail is still the same: the limited-edition controller arrives before Gears of War: E-Day itself.

Would you buy the prebuilt controller now, or wait for the Xbox Design Lab version?
