inFAMOUS: Second Son Is Running on PC at 4K Through an Emulator

Enthusiast AYOUB has gotten inFAMOUS: Second Son running on PC at native 4K with a modified build of the shadPS4 emulator. He says he spent 24 hours working on it and used the Claude language model. The creator posted a demonstration in a post on X.

AYOUB called the launch a dream come true and is continuing to improve the shadPS4 build so the game runs faster on PC.

I managed to get inFAMOUS: Second Son running on PC at native 4K with a shadPS4 build I tweaked using Claude. It’s a dream come true. I did it in 24 hours.

The game was run on a computer with an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor and a GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card. So far, AYOUB hasn’t released the mod’s source code publicly. After the gameplay was published, members of the fan community began demanding that it be posted on GitHub.

The launch also sparked debate about the use of generative AI in reverse engineering and potential claims from rights holders over this kind of emulator tinkering.

Should AYOUB open-source the build’s source code if his work has already sparked a dispute over AI and rights?
