The Most Anticipated Games of 2026 for PlayStation 5
This year, Sony console owners will be treated to three major exclusives alongside an exceptionally strong lineup of multiplatform releases, so there will be little reason to complain about a lack of exciting virtual adventures. In this feature, we have gathered the most interesting upcoming projects for PlayStation 5.
Major AAA Action and Adventure Blockbusters
GTA 6
- Release date: November 19, 2026;
- Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S;
- Co-op: no information.
Naturally, this list simply could not start with any other game. There is no need to explain why we are all waiting for GTA 6: every Rockstar release is a masterpiece, and this time we are also talking about the most expensive title in the company’s history, developed by hundreds of creators since the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 back in 2018. The trailers and screenshots of Grand Theft Auto 6 impress with their absurd level of attention to detail and will surely justify, for many players, the purchase of the pricey PlayStation 5 Pro. Considering that GTA 6 has not yet been officially announced for PC, the best possible version at launch is expected to be on Sony’s premium console.
All that remains is to hope that GTA 6 really is a 2026 game and that its release will not be delayed at the last moment to 2027.
Are you planning to play GTA 6 on PS5?
Marvel's Wolverine
- Release date: Fall 2026;
- Platform: PlayStation 5;
- Co-op: no.
The most intriguing Sony exclusive of 2026 is, without a doubt, Marvel's Wolverine from Insomniac Games. One of the most talented studios under the PlayStation umbrella is creating a AAA action game about Wolverine that promises to stay true to the character: fast-paced, spectacular, and, importantly, extremely brutal. Logan never holds back, and the developers decided there was no point in tiptoeing around censorship either. Expect the most savage fatalities possible!
007 First Light
- Release date: May 27, 2026;
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch;
- Co-op: unknown.
The long-awaited return of James Bond to video games. 007 First Light is a story-driven action game from IO Interactive, in which the studio deliberately blends the stealth philosophy of the Hitman franchise with cinematic action inspired by the Uncharted series. Bond is portrayed as a young MI6 trainee investigating the betrayal of agent 009. The game freely shifts between a spy simulator (stealth infiltrations, disguises, eavesdropping, and bluffing) and large-scale chases, shootouts, and spectacular cutscenes.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis
- Release date: 2026;
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S;
- Co-op: no.
A reimagining of the very first Lara Croft adventure that preserves the playful spirit of the original. In Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, Lara’s iconic outfit returns, along with globe-trotting journeys, firefights in vibrant jungles, and even encounters with dinosaurs.
RPG and Action RPG Titles
Control Resonant
- Release year: 2026;
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Mac;
- Co-op: unknown.
At TGA 2025, the Finnish studio Remedy announced Control Resonant, which differs radically from the first game. This time it is a full-fledged action RPG with a combat system inspired by the Devil May Cry series, focusing primarily on melee weapons and combo-based gameplay. Such a shift in the core formula will not appeal to everyone, but it is encouraging to see Remedy unafraid to experiment with genres and concepts, constantly trying something new.
The Blood of Dawnwalker
- Release year: 2026;
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S;
- Co-op: no.
Perhaps the most anticipated AA game of 2026. Many veterans and lead developers of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are working on The Blood of Dawnwalker, and judging by the gameplay demos, it is essentially shaping up to be a spiritual successor to The Witcher — only with a vampire theme and several unconventional RPG ideas, such as time-limited quests that prevent players from completing every task in a single playthrough.
Crimson Desert
- Release date: March 19, 2026;
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S;
- Co-op: unknown.
An ambitious open-world RPG set on the fantasy continent of Pywel, torn apart by political strife. Crimson Desert is inspired by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, but over the years of development it has absorbed ideas from The Legend of Zelda, Assassin's Creed, Dark Souls, Dragon's Dogma, God of War, and Red Dead Redemption. Key features include 50–80 hours of large-scale content, vertical world design with floating islands in the sky, experimental combat systems surprisingly reminiscent of fighting games, and the ability to battle while riding exotic creatures.
Lords of the Fallen 2
- Release date: 2026;
- Platforms: PC (Epic Games Store exclusive), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S;
- Co-op: yes (online).
A sequel built on the “bigger and better” principle. The creators of Lords of the Fallen 2 promise more dynamic and spectacular combat, more aggressive enemies, and improved visuals. A refined and fully realized co-op mode is also something to look forward to.
Sci-Fi Projects
Saros
- Release date: April 30, 2026;
- Platform: PlayStation 5;
- Co-op: unknown.
A new project from the creators of Returnal and, by and large, an unofficial sequel to their previous game. Saros is also a third-person action roguelike set in a sci-fi world, where the protagonist rushes through levels, annihilates hordes of enemies with powerful weapons, and constantly dodges hundreds of energy projectiles flying their way.
Pragmata
- Release date: April 24, 2026;
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch;
- Co-op: unknown.
An experimental action game from Capcom, first announced back in 2020 and long shrouded in mystery. Pragmata tells the story of astronaut Hugh Williams, stranded on the lunar station “Cradle.” His companion is an android girl named Diana, whom the player controls simultaneously with the main character.
While Pragmata is fundamentally a dynamic shooter, it is also a puzzle game: to deal damage to enemies, players must hack their defenses during combat via mini-puzzles. This approach recalls old-school Capcom titles and the philosophy of the Mega Man franchise, where enemies are challenges that require specific solutions.
Horror Games
Resident Evil Requiem
- Release date: February 27, 2026;
- Platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S;
- Co-op: no.
Fans of the series have been dreaming about the next numbered Resident Evil for years, so the insane hype surrounding Resident Evil Requiem comes as no surprise. Especially now that Capcom has confirmed two playable characters, including fan-favorite Leon Kennedy. His missions will be less horror-focused and more adrenaline-driven, in the spirit of the Resident Evil 4 remake. The main hope is that the developers avoid repeating the mistakes of the sixth installment, when trying to please the widest possible audience within a single game resulted in an overly unfocused project that frustrated much of the fanbase.
ONTOS
- Release date: 2026;
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S;
- Co-op: no.
A new horror game from the creators of the Amnesia series, in the spirit of their other acclaimed title SOMA. In ONTOS, players will explore a creepy futuristic hotel and uncover the secrets of a brilliant scientist — the protagonist’s father.
Directive 8020
- Release date: 2026;
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S;
- Co-op: unknown.
The next horror project from Supermassive Games, the creators of Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures anthology. As expected, Directive 8020 is another interactive movie where player choices influence the narrative, but this time special attention is drawn to the sci-fi setting — the story unfolds in space, a theme the studio has not previously explored.
Comic Book and Licensed Franchise Games
Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight
- Release date: May 29, 2026;
- Platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S;
- Co-op: unknown.
An unexpected successor to Rocksteady Studios’ Arkham trilogy. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight pokes fun at Batman films and comics while simultaneously borrowing almost verbatim the structure of Arkham Knight: a large open-world Gotham, grappling hook gliding, the Batmobile, side activities, stealth, and a similar rhythmic combat system. Batman is joined on missions by allies such as Batgirl, Nightwing, and Jim Gordon — each with their own gadgets and distinct roles in combat and puzzle-solving.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls
- Release date: 2026;
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5;
- Co-op: competitive online mode.
A fighting game set in the Marvel universe, developed by Arc System Works with support from Sony. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls stands out among other games based on American comics thanks to the signature anime-inspired visuals of the Guilty Gear creators: the developers deliberately reinterpret iconic characters through a Japanese stylistic lens. In addition, genre fans may find Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls appealing for its unconventional concepts and systems, such as 4v4 battles with a shared health bar.

This article does not include every promising PS5 project on the horizon, but only those officially scheduled for 2026 based on currently available information. As a result, the list is incomplete: many projects have yet to receive even approximate release windows. That means even more great games for Sony consoles are likely still ahead in the coming year.
