The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Teaser Shows Yoshi Eating Kamek, Rosalina Battling Bowser Jr., and More
Illumination and Universal Pictures have dropped a brand-new 30-second teaser for the upcoming animated film The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, ramping up excitement for its April 1 premiere. The spot will also air on TV — including during the Super Bowl broadcast.
The teaser features several fresh scenes: Yoshi dramatically takes down Kamek, star launchers make an appearance (a direct nod to the Super Mario Galaxy games on Wii), and Rosalina faces off against Bowser Jr.
There are also hints at a storyline where Princess Peach and Toad venture into a futuristic metropolis. Eagle-eyed fans might spot an Octumba in one shot — another callback to the original game.
The movie is a sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which became a massive hit, grossing nearly $1.4 billion worldwide and ranking among the most successful animated films of all time. The original was praised by critics for its spectacle and charm, even if it was a relatively light-hearted adventure in the Mushroom Kingdom.
