Ravenfield allows players to immerse themselves in large-scale battles with low-polygon graphics and ragdoll physics for soldiers. Thanks to convenient tools, the game has acquired thousands of mods for weapons, vehicles, various modes, as well as many custom maps. We have selected the most interesting ones and made a compilation of the best modifications for you.
The game itself, although slowly, is acquiring new mechanics. For example, in recent updates, a conquest mode has appeared in the game, where the player must explore weapons and vehicles, as well as capture new territories that bring money and research points.
We will look at two ways to install mods: through the Steam Workshop and manually using the game's root folder.
To install via the Steam Workshop, download the game, go to the mod page, and then click «Subscribe». The Steam client will automatically start downloading and installing, and you will only need to select the option to launch Ravenfield «Play Ravenfield».
To install manually, you need to:
It is worth noting that Ravenfield has been developing for many years, so some modifications are no longer supported by the authors. You can run them by installing an earlier version of the game. To do this, you need to:
You can find out if a modification works on the current version of the game by the comments in the Workshop.
Vanilla+ is a series of modifications from several authors that adds weapons and various vehicles to different sides of the conflict. Most of the mods are among the most popular in the Steam Workshop, and their quantity is large enough for us to highlight a separate category for them.
This mod adds 30 new types of weapons — from sniper rifles to shotguns. All guns are balanced and stylized to fit the vanilla Ravenfield style.
Vehicle Redesigns and Skins attempts to diversify the appearance of the transport of the opposing teams — Eagles and Ravens, while not violating the Ravenfield style and not overdoing it with novelty. The new look of tanks, planes, armored vehicles, and stationary weapons allows for easy distinction between friendly and enemy vehicles.
Kestrels Faction Theme Set adds a third faction to the game. Their equipment is less technological, but due to special vehicles like a light aircraft or a bike, they can deliver quick and precise strikes, constantly moving around the map. This is a great way to diversify the battle and add even more chaos to the fight.
If you have added the new faction, don't forget to equip it with weapons by installing the Kestrel Weapon Pack. This mod adds 11 new types of weapons: from pistols to heavy sniper rifles. You can see how they look in the screenshots.
Rolling Thunder Content Pack, on the other hand, focuses specifically on vehicles. It adds truly powerful tanks and armored vehicles for large-scale ground battles. Light tanks, tracked IFVs, trucks for rapid troop transport — all these means will allow you to turn the tide of battle in an instant.
This modification offers a different experience — to take to the skies and start the battle there. The game will feature light and heavy helicopters, fighters, attack aircraft, and even a tactical bomber.
To give ground units at least some chance to counter all this, the modification also adds a self-propelled anti-aircraft gun. With it, you can destroy not only aircraft but also infantry and light enemy vehicles. However, its weapon will not penetrate tanks.
Hundreds of maps have been released for Ravenfield, but not all of them can boast of detailed work, competent level design, and quality execution. We tried to gather the most interesting maps from both a gameplay and visual point of view.
Adds the eponymous map to the game for close-quarters combat. No running around or aiming — just close combat, shotguns, and constant firefights.
The map has six capture points: three on the first floor and three on the roof. The author recommends playing with 20-30 bots, but if you want real madness, you can try filling the map with a hundred soldiers.
Oblast Highway is a new map for battles, accommodating 80 to 150 bots. The radio tower provides excellent visibility, making it a key capture target, while the rest of the area serves as a good staging ground for troops.
Another map from the same author. This time he recommends setting the bot count within 64-80 participants. According to the creator's idea, two forces rush to gain control over a forested area in the mountains. The location itself is very beautiful and detailed. Note that the wooded terrain and abundance of foliage may reduce game performance.
Overlord offers to participate in the Normandy operation and land on the famous beach in France. The author did not limit it to just storming the beach — after capturing the beachhead, you will begin advancing into enemy territory (or trying to prevent it).
The map implements a system of landing by planes and ships, as well as a gradual change of reinforcement spawn points as capture points are taken.
The mod adds the eponymous map to the game. The player will have to battle for Blackrock Island, which houses a missile silo. The author recommends setting the number of bots around 50 and promises an excellent gaming experience, a well-designed location, good optimization, close and medium-range combat, and some kind of secret.
A huge map designed for a large-scale, prolonged battle for Omaha Beach. The author recommends launching it with 100+ participants. Stationary machine guns, various vehicles, and artillery — all this will make the battle truly grand.
New weapons, maps, and soldier skins are a great way to diversify the usual gameplay and get new impressions from the game. In this category, we have collected several high-quality and interesting mods of this kind.
The mod offers to stylize battles as toy soldier fights. To do this, it replaces the skins of soldiers, weapons, and vehicles with the well-known green army men. Weapons, various transport, and the soldiers themselves have been changed. To avoid confusion, their colors differ slightly but not as much as in the original game. The modification can be customized by the player through a config file.
One of the largest weapon packs for Ravenfield, adding 49 units of new weapons in various categories: several AK models, sniper rifles, heavy machine guns, pistols, carbines, and much more. Detailed characteristics of the guns can be seen in the screenshots.
A huge pack of weapons themed around World War II. The authors have brought more than a hundred guns from various participants of the conflict into the game: Germany, USSR, America, and the United Kingdom. There is even room for weapons from China, Japan, and Denmark. The mod also adds several skins for vehicles.
Are you a fan of World War II vehicles? Then this addition will suit your taste. The mod adds several dozen units of various military equipment: tanks, cars, and trucks. The list includes vehicles from the USSR, America, the United Kingdom, Germany, and other countries.
A small mod that allows you to diversify battles with new types of soldiers. It adds four new appearances: 2 forest camouflages, an FBI SWAT skin, and a Marine Corps skin. All skins, despite their detail and high quality, do not stand out from the style of Ravenfield.
If you suddenly want to throw balance out the window and just have fun — this mod is for you, as it adds a six-barrel machine gun to the game. The weapon is equipped with a 200-round magazine, allowing you to mow down the entire enemy army in one burst, and according to the author, even replace anti-aircraft defenses.
And this mod adds a full-fledged nuclear strike. Or, to be precise, a laser designator. Aim, activate the device, and try to find cover within seven seconds. The nuclear strike has two waves. The first has higher damage but a smaller radius, while the second hits further but weaker. The designator has two charges and a five-second cooldown. And yes, bots can use it too.
Modifications in this category add new mechanics or change existing ones. Improved recoil, zombie mode, minimalist interface — all of this can significantly change the feel of the game.
The mod reworks shooting in Ravenfield. From now on, recoil is procedurally generated based on the characteristics and type of weapon, meaning each gun will feel more unique and predictable. All recoil parameters can be adjusted in the settings.
As the name suggests, the modification adds weather effects to the game. These include clouds (flat and 3D), rain, sandstorm, snow, and fog. All of them allow diversifying the appearance of maps and adding intensity to battles, but unfortunately, at the moment, the creator cannot make these effects influence the accuracy of bots.
Zombie mod is already in Ravenfield! We decided to «combine» two mods at once. The first adds new skins and weapon sounds, as well as guides the player on how to start the battle. The second creates the «infection» mechanics.
The resulting zombies can be customized: change speed and health, as well as the distance at which infection occurs. You can even enable one-life mode!
Adds the ability to receive various bonuses for points in the game. You can call for supply drops, artillery strikes, light armored vehicles, respawn beacons, and even request a tactical airstrike! To do this, you need to eliminate enemies and capture key points.
The mod allows you to call a heavy assault helicopter onto the battlefield, which you might have encountered in the Call of Duty series. To do this, you need to equip a tablet in the auxiliary devices slot and activate it by taking it in hand.
You will switch to the helicopter's view. The vehicle is equipped with a thermal imager (V) and has a 20mm minigun, a 40mm rocket launcher, and a 105mm cannon, which is more than enough for all your enemies.
A simple but very atmospheric mod that allows you to hide almost all interface elements. Now nothing will prevent you from destroying enemies!
