Gamers created a lot of things in Minecraft — huge castles, full-fledged villages, and even cities of the future. But today we want to talk a little about something else. A couple of days ago, a group of enthusiasts from Excellently Studio shared a new batch of screenshots from their latest project. For several years now they have been working on recreating Pripyat and the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Minecraft. In this regard, we at VGTimes decided to remember which famous places from the real world were recreated in this game. Spoiler: there are a lot of them!
Let's start with relatively recent news. In May of this year, the opening of the virtual building of the Higher School of Economics, which is located on Pokrovsky Boulevard in Moscow, took place. A project called «Minecraft NRU HSE» was launched in March of the same year by students and teachers of the university. Construction began with the central atrium, and a little later the remaining buildings were completed.
During the prolonged pandemic, excursions and lectures are held on the server. Just an amazing thirst for learning, don't you think?
Students of the Faculty of Journalism also keep up with their colleagues. The journalism department of Moscow State University was also once recreated in a popular game, albeit not with such attention to detail.
We are transported from Moscow to distant Japan. Tokyo City Hall is the place where the government of the «land of the rising sun» meets. There are not many buildings, only two, but what buildings!..
At the lower level of the tower there is an unfinished shopping center and several open shops that delight customers with a rich assortment. If you go higher, you will find yourself in office buildings. From there there is a wonderful view of the main square and a small park where users can, for example, meditate.
The smaller building houses the premises where the government meets. It should sit — according to the author's idea. For now it's empty, and a virtual wind is blowing among the walls.
Unfortunately, you won't be able to see the completed version — the last time the creator made changes was more than seven years ago.
A player under the nickname RikudouCraft has been building London's Westminster Abbey alone for several years. The dimensions of the building are amazing: 245 blocks in length, 99 blocks in width and 96 blocks in height, which is equal to its actual dimensions. The creator himself notes this.
We wish the designer good luck in his difficult task.
Not a building, but an entire area of the city has been under construction for seven years now by a player under the nickname BasVerhagen — the project is called Midtown Manhattan, New York City. The author admits that «initially I only wanted to build the Chrysler Building, but then I just couldn't stop».
Each building has a realistic lobby and elevators that take you to different floors, and often even to the roof. There are shops in the buildings that you can also visit. Some buildings (Chrysler Building, Metlife Building, Tower 49) are fully furnished.
There are also 18 metro stations underground, and virtual tourists will probably be interested in starting their exploration of the city from the Central Railway Station.
From New York we are transported to Foggy Albion. An enthusiast under the nickname Romse_One decided to bring one of the main attractions of London, Tower Bridge, to Minecraft.
So far, however, the project environment looks a little rustic.
What happens if you move a building from a game into the real world? Architect Sergei Kuznetsov tried to answer this question. The creator designed a unique treatment facility specifically for Mosvodostok, which will be lined with special panels with a 3D effect that will give the building an «interesting appearance.» At first glance, the building looks like either a bee or the logo of one of the mobile operators.
Sergei himself says that «the facades of the building will be covered with aluminum panels and decorative silicate plaster of black and yellow color. Due to the pixel details, the structure will look like a sketch from a computer game.» An extremely unusual solution, but, you must agree, the project looks very impressive.

That's all for today. Be sure to share in the comments what real place you would like to visit (or even build) in Minecraft, if you haven't already. We do not say goodbye!
Have you ever built something like this?
