Alan Wake's American Nightmare doesn't feel like a standalone game,

more like an expansion to the original game. The plot of the game is inferior

to the original, but it’s hard to call it bad either. In terms of gameplay, the game also

has not changed. Overall the game turned out to be average.

5.9

A short fanservice addon. It plays quickly and funly (in 2-3 hours), the combat has been simplified, an arsenal of weapons has been added, and the leaves with Wake's manuscript are now shown on the map. The atmosphere of the mystical thriller was replaced by a near-comedy story referencing Groundhog Day and many stories about “dark alter egos” (Spider-Man 3, Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and so on). And this seems to be enough to give the game a well-deserved eight, but it’s still a shame that the plot issues that were not addressed in the original were not developed anywhere near here, and the ending even hints that this was all done without meaning and for fun. Unfortunately, even now Alan Wake 2 is not a priority for Remedy and the future development of the franchise is in question.
