It would seem that, in appearance, it’s not even a child’s game, but a toy that can get hype. I also thought so when I read the news feed in 2020, and there was a continuous “red man in a spacesuit” and these jokes about the “imposter” that haunted me around the clock. But at some point I decided to play it myself and it really suited me.
Why is this so?
Simple gameplay:
You choose a color for this little man and go to a beautiful pixelated spaceship to fix it and probably fly somewhere, or vice versa: to sabotage and kill everyone. Well, here we have the classic “mafia” (I think everyone knows about this game). By the way, as in it, after someone has been killed, players gather to identify the traitor by voting, during which they can discuss using text chat: who is the “imposter” here. The “saboteur” himself can vote and discuss, so be prepared that you may be confused and you will drive out the innocent.
As I said earlier, ordinary workers (innocent) must repair the ship, so this process is represented by mini-games, in the spirit of: connecting the wires correctly, shooting down asteroids, swiping the key card at the right speed, etc. Very funny mechanics.
If you play as a traitor, you can kill the crew members one by one, but you need to do this for a long time and carefully, or you can arrange sabotage and due to lack of oxygen, all the inhabitants of the ship will die.
It seems like there is no plot in the game, but on the Internet, fans have come up with more than a dozen theories about what is happening on this ship and what the traitor is.
There are nice graphics, as if drawn with a felt-tip pen, an atmospheric sound, additional content in the form of various space objects that can be bought for money, and seemingly without bugs (although it would be strange if there were any, this is a small pixel game).
Conclusion:
Among Us is an interesting multiplayer indie project that can captivate gamers for several evenings, and you can also have a great time with friends. No wonder it is the best indie game in 2020 (21).
