One day, the daughter finds funny toys and notes from her father, a lighthouse keeper named Bob. There he describes his adventures, and the toys themselves depict him and other characters he met. As she plays, the girl recreates these adventures, but this time she can modify the toy version of Bob himself to overcome various obstacles. She can replace his arm with a pirate's hook to climb walls, his other arm with a crab claw to cut rope, his legs with a fishtail to swim better, and his head moved to different places to get a better view of what's going on.
