Games Arx Fatalis All reviews Review from Reichsführer

Here it is. the progenitor of Disonord, the first Arcane game, which could have become the last, and there would be no Disonord. But the Arcanes were lucky.

As for the game itself: despite the fact that it is VERY outdated morally and technically, it is quite good and interesting to play. The controls are of course, let's say "unusual", but it's even more interesting than all other games with essentially monotonous gameplay.

interactive objects are a completely different story, it would seem - a banal craft, but here it is: heat the furnace with bellows, put the workpiece there, take it out, put it on the anvil and process it with a hammer. and now the blade is ready. in the 2002 game, even the simple creation of a blade is much more elaborate than in Skyrim, for example. interaction with other objects would also seem to be banal, but even just throwing a fish into the fire and it just “fries” is really cool. Personally, what gave me the most joy was BAKED BREAD. find flour, add water, roll out the dough with a rolling pin, then throw it into the oven\fire, a couple of seconds and here it is your bread. It doesn't seem like anything, but it's really interesting.

Of course, there is also a plot, but I haven’t played enough yet to talk about the plot.

overall: the game is great, quite worthy of the title “game of the decade”, but alas.

if anyone wants to play, for a more pleasant gaming experience I recommend the Arx Neuralis and Arx Libertatis mods. the first one improves the picture a little, the second one is responsible for the technical side and the ability to run on modern platforms
