ACCC made a lot of noise and caused a mixed reaction from gamers. You can see my opinion below.
Gameplay: A regular 2D platformer reminiscent of Mark of the Ninja and Prince of Persia. The guards have a field of vision; if the heroine gets into it, it will instantly fill with red and the guard will raise the alarm. However, there are also some of the "big parts" of AS in the game, for example, hide and seek in haystacks, synchronization with the Animus, leaps of faith and much more. The levels here are not single-layer; in certain places you can jump to another level. In addition, each mission has an additional task: free the slaves, find the scrolls of the assassins. For completing these additional tasks, as well as points for stealth and complete synchronization. Collected a certain number of points - received an improvement. Stealth is generally encouraged here, after the first clashes you understand why. Shao Jun dies from one poke, especially in the first stages, and the crooked combat does not in any way contribute to successful completion.
Plot: as in most platformers, it is quite simple. Phrases like “My death will not change anything” and GG’s wildly pretentious speeches are included. There are no cut scenes as such, but there are slide shows made in the style of Chinese engravings. The world of medieval China is described very carefully, one gets the feeling that this game is just a preparation, introducing the player into an incredibly interesting setting before a full-fledged “Assassin”
Graphics: personally, I didn’t like this element of the game, everything is blurry, it looks very untidy , you can’t immediately tell where are the beams that you can climb along, and where is just a beautiful backdrop.
The soundtrack can hardly be called a masterpiece, but at least it sounds interesting. The combination of oriental motifs and electronic music is always interesting.
Bottom line: ACCS is a good platformer, but, unfortunately, it has many disadvantages, which will most likely be taken into account and eliminated in the next games in the series. Initially, I wanted to give the game a 7.5, but after a bug prevented me from moving forward with the story, I decided to lower the rating by a point.
6.5 out of 10.
